Efren Reyes, Jr. Suggests The National Artist Of The Philippines' Criteria Be Revised

After many years of the Philippine government's conferment of National Artist awards to Filipino artists from various fields, actor and director Efren Reyes, Jr. recently complained of the criteria set generally by the monitoring, nomination, evaluation and selection committees.

According to Efren, the rules and regulations must be revised.

"Ang dami nang hindi applicable na criteris na dapat baguhin. Marami nang dapat na gawin para sa (There are a lot in the criteria that are not applicable anymore and should be changed. There are many things to be done with the) National Artist Award," exclaimed Jun, Efren's nickname.

"Filipino pa rin naman ang isang artist na namatay na bago pa maisabatas ang National Artist kaya bakit hindi sila mapapasama sa (A Filipino artist is still Filipino even if he or she dies before the signing into law of the National Artist Award so why can't he or she be in the) nomination?" opined Jun Reyes who is slated to direct the late singer April Boy Regino's biopic titled "Idol The April Boy Regino Story" under the revived Water Plus Productions.
