An interviewer asked President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., during his official visit to Australia, about the plunder and atrocities committed during his father’s dictatorial regime from 1972 to 1986. Bongbong Marcos, while stuttering throughout, replied at one point: “…the assertions were untrue….” He even claimed that the narratives of ill-gotten wealth of the Marcoses were “propaganda.”

The truth about the brutal martial law regime of Bongbong Marcos’ father cannot be hidden from the Filipino people. Even the international community has long been aware of Marcos, Sr. as among the world’s notorious thieves as head-of-state. This was clearly proven in one instance in Bongbong’s official trip to Australia. In his scheduled official address to the Australian parliament, President Bongbong Marcos, while speaking, was met with a protest placard that said “Stop the human rights abuses.” It was held prominently for all to see, including the media, by Green Senator Janet Rice. “Her colleagues slapped her with a rare censure order for the supposed unparliamentary behavior, but Marcos’ ardent critics applauded Rice for standing up to the Philippine leader,” so did Rappler report the incident.

We wonder how this fraudulently-elected president (as claimed in the scientific study of the results of the May 9, 2022 elections by the TNT trio of former DICT Secretary Ret. Gen. Eli Rio, Jr., former Comelec Chairman Gus Lagman and former banker-Finex President Franklin Ysaac, and other IT experts) feel about lying very often about his father’s sins against the Filipino people. Does he and his family have any conscience denying the fact of the February 1986 Edsa People Power Revolution, which kicked them out of the country for their crimes against the people? Are they still denying the fact that a Revolutionary government was set-up immediately thereafter by Cory Aquino? She was declared the real winner in the snap elections marred by the heroic walkout-protest by the computer professionals against the cheating done by Comelec at the time. A shame that the country’s head-of-state had his hands “caught in the cookie jar,” so to speak, before the whole world.

The Marcoses, Dutertes and their dynasty allies are still dishing out false narratives, including a deceptive “people’s initiative” to change the 1987 Philippine Constitution. It can never be denied, however, that a most significant development and indelible fruit of the Edsa People Power Revolution under President Cory was the 1987 Philippine Constitution. This is the very foundation and guide for the country’s public officials, especially the head-of-state, not to lie, but instead to implore “the Almighty God” to protect and promote the HUMAN RIGHTS of the Filipino people and establish SOCIAL JUSTICE throughout the country, to solve to a great extent our decades-old problem of poverty.
