In reports, China already agreed to carry the cost of deportation of Chinese nationals in custody by the BI to be deported. Most of them were held as fugitives or for violation of immigration laws.

I hope this China move is not a subtle attempt to get their ships in the West Philippine Sea to enter Manila Bay.

###

Earlier, I reported China has started, in earnest, their serious invasion of the Philippines, investing in offshore gaming operations manned by mostly Chinese nationals. Buildings in Metro Manila and in some provinces sprouted like mushroom to house these gambling operations.

Nobody discerned their increasing number until these Chinese nationals became problems in their communities. They were not noticed until they started “killing” each other and in bringing in prostitutes.

First they came as harmless-looking college graduates until military-looking “machos” were seen jogging in the streets of exclusive subdivisions.

To those who invested in building high-end dormitories for these POGO workers, many of them are now begging banks not to foreclose their properties.

When banks finance lairs of crime, there is something wrong with our investment geniuses. They dared not lend to our farmers but were very friendly to gamblers.

Pres. BBM wants holistic plan to solve MM traffic woes.

Bravo! Every President before BBM promised to solve traffic gridlocks in the metro. But they all failed.

Traffic problem is a space issue. With car sales ever increasing each year, we do not have the road space to accommodate these vehicles. Result is the ever-rising congestion in our streets that obviously generates demand for space greater than the available road capacity.

Our experts are correct in saying, the solution is an effective mass transport system. Japan-quality mass transport, like trains, will discourage use of private cars, easing up our very limited road space.

So, Sec. Arturo Tugade of the previous administration worked like hell to have in place these mass transport schemes, a subway now under construction and a bus carousel that the present DOTR is making a big mess of.

From my end, to solve road congestion in the country, first, we should regulate vehicle ownership like what they do in Singapore and Hong Kong and in some advanced countries.

Continue to build more roads in the metro as the road space ratio is like waiting for a major disaster to happen if it has not come already.

In road building, a toll road connecting south-north is working but east to west is nil.

The DOTR looks like it is agreeing to the stopping in the building of the Pasig River Expressway (PAREX). This is a surprise and speaks volumes of DOTR’s inability to see the future in mobility in that part of the metro.

The claim that the west-east toll road is a major environment issue is highly debatable that the DENR and DOTR will have to resolve.

Going deeper to a debate, it will become a choice between pollution of a river which can be addressed and air and noise pollution that traffic jams create.

On the holistic plan to solve road problems, Pres. BBM better look at the roads in the region of his mother, former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos, the Eastern Visayas.

Right in the middle of Pres. Ferdinand Marcos’ Maharlika Highway is a stretch in Samar that is too rotten that Warays are asking: what happened here?

There is name to these stretch of road — the Speaker Martin Romualdez Luxurious Road.

"Lukso" in waray means jump. And that’s what happens when you cross that road: It’s a jumpy ride.

To provide space for cars and motor vehicles, we need more roads. More importantly, we need an effective public transport system.
